What We Believe
Abiding Peace Lutheran Church is a congregation rooted and built up in the gospel. As Lutherans, we are a church whose teaching is based on the words written by the prophets of the Old Testament and the apostles of the New Testament. The Bible tells us about Jesus Christ.
About Us
We are a Lutheran congregation in South Carolina, but our confession of faith connects us to others in the US and around the world. For more about our church body called WELS, visit the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
We preach and teach the gospel - forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ alone. We believe, teach, and confess that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. The Bible teaches that all people are conceived and born in sin and, by nature, are unable to please God. But God so loved the world that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior. The Holy Spirit creates faith so that we can believe this good news.
Ephesians 1:7, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 51:5, John 3:16, Titus 3:5

-
It is our mission at Abiding Peace Lutheran Church to serve all people in God's world with the gospel of Jesus Christ on the basis of the Holy Scriptures. Our objective is to be led and to lead others to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ for life and salvation.

God asks that we not only grow in our knowledge of him, but that we also go out to others with the good news of what he has done through Jesus. To do so we support our larger church body's efforts to send missionaries around the world, as well as our local projects to reach out in our community. We also support a Ministerial Education system that prepares pastors and teachers to proclaim Christ here and around the world.

Members of Abiding Peace give glory to God in their lives by serving him out of thankfulness for his saving service to us in Christ Jesus. Some of the opportunities to serve the Lord at Abiding Peace are by ushering for worship, providing flowers for a Sunday service, teaching Vacation Bible School, mowing the lawn, heading up a church outing, video recording worship, and more.

It's a blessing for Christians to be able to encourage one another and enjoy each other's company, therefore planned outings and activities are held throughout the year for adults, teens, and children. These activities include such things as book club, community plays, "out to eat", bowling, game nights, amusement parks, and our annual chili cook-off.

Because God asks us to be salt and light in this world, we extend God's love to those who have special needs. We do this by collecting food and other products for local charity organizations, or providing crises financial assistance, and by supporting disaster relief efforts around the world with special donation drives.
