AP E-News

Good morning and greetings from Abiding Peace (a day early for the news...),

The resurrection of Jesus makes a difference in our lives.  It means we live with peace and purpose (Jesus appears to fearful and lost disciples in the locked room).  It means we live with hope and happiness (Jesus appears to the confused and sad disciples on the road to Emmaus).  This Sunday we are reminded that the risen Jesus is our Good Shepherd, who laid down his life for us and rose from the dead, and he now leads and cares for us through this life to the eternal green pastures of heaven.  Come Sunday to celebrate that blessing and what it means for you today.

Prayer Notes:

- Today is Earth Day and so we give thanks to our Creator - "the maker of heaven and earth."  It's true what David says: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1).  Pause a moment today to marvel at the gift God has given in his created world, and then let's all be good stewards of it because it is God's gift to us "to work it and take care of" (Genesis 2:15).

- Friday is APA Field Day and our WELS school in Lawrenceville, GA will be joining us for a day of track and field event fun on our campus.  We ask the Lord to keep safe all the families that will be making the trip here and back to Georgia, and that he blesses this day of fun and friendly competition.

(Thank you to all who are volunteering to help and to all who made donations of cash to help with some of the expenses.  If you'd still like to volunteer to help, please contact Ian Paulsen.)

Other Notes:

- Sunday School students (K4-5th) are learning a song to sing for Mother's Day/Confirmation Sunday (May 10th), and practice at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

- A singing group is forming to sing for Pentecost Sunday (May 24th), which is also our graduation recognition Sunday.  You are invited to add your voice.  Rehearsal begins this Sunday, after the second service.

- Speaking of graduations...if you have a graduate (middle, high, college, graduate), let me know so that we are sure to include them on May 24th.

Note: We have two AP members graduating this year from Martin Luther College      (our WELS college of ministry): Preston Ballentine and Zach Childress.

- Stop at the information table to sign up for "Goofy Golf" (deadline is Sunday), playing softball May 17th, and a camping trip planned for June 5-7.  At the table is also the latest free copy of the Meditations devotional booklet.

- Confirmation Sunday is May 10th (in the second service).  We will still have regular Sunday School and Bible study that day.

- The teen Bible study group will be joining the adult study for the remainder of the school year.

- Our annual "Kindergarten Round up" is May 1st (10:30 - 12:30).  If you are interested in having your child attend or for more information, please contact Karen.
